Schools, colleges and educational institutions will continue to remain closed till September 30, according to the new guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today as part of COVID-19 Unlock-4 guidelines. The guidelines will come into effect from September 1, 2020. The new guidelines are formulated after extensive consultation with states and union territories.
However, online and distance learning will be followed to continue the teaching-learning process. In the new guidelines issued as part of Unlock-4, students, outside of containment zones of Classes 9-12 will be permitted to attend schools.
"Students of classes 9 to 12 may be permitted to visit their schools, in areas outside the Containment Zones only, on voluntary basis, for taking guidance from their teachers. This will be subject to written consent of their parents/ guardians," the Unloack-4 guidelines said.
The states and union territories, as per the new MHA Unlock-4 guideines, may allow half of the teaching and non-teaching staff to the schools at a time for online teaching and tele-counselling and related work.
The Spokesperson of MHA took to Twitter to announce this development. It said: "Unlock 4 opens up more activities outside Containment Zones. Metro rail allowed to operate with effect from 07.09.20 in a graded manner, by MOHUA/ Min. of Railways , in consultation with MHA. In this regard, SOP will be issued by MOHUA."
