With "Yeh India ka time hai" programme being hailed by the Indian government, students at IITs and central universities will soon be grooving to patriotic music performed by Rock bands. The HRD Ministry has asked IITS and central universities to host rock bands which would be performing patriotic numbers in college campuses. The ministry has identified certain bands, as part of the "Yeh India ka time hai" programme. The patriotic numbers to be played will also include numbers from Bollywood.
A senior official from the ministry said that a private entertainment firm was taken on board for identification of such bands. The firm has identified a dozen such rock bands. The shows are being planned at various institutions over the span of next month.
The programme is being organized to celebrate the 70 years of India's independence as well as 75 years of the Quit India Movement this year.
Earlier this month, the government had also asked all universities and educational institutes to organize trips for students to memorials of freedom fighters and residences of martyrs to mark the beginning of the celebration of the 70th Independence Day.
The HRD ministry had also directed educational institutes to organize an oath ceremony where students and staff took oath to make the country a "terrorism-free, caste-free, corruption-free, uncleanness-free and poverty-free society". The oath was forwarded to the institutes, school and universities and also uploaded on the Ministry's official website.
