Gauhati University PG Entrance Test On Hold

Following High Court order, Gauhati University has put all the entrance examinations scheduled for admission to postgraduate courses on hold. The examinations were expected to begin on 20 July for admission to various PG courses.

New Delhi: Following High Court order, Gauhati University has put all the entrance examinations scheduled for admission to postgraduate courses on hold. The examinations were expected to begin on 20 July for admission to various PG courses. A group of graduates moved the High Court raising an issue related to the selection process. In response to which, HC stayed the University's decision of conducting the examination. In the meeting of the Admission Committee of the University held on 17 July 2017, it was decided that 'all Entrance Tests for the PG Admission 2017-2018 are kept on hold for the time being'.

'Students are requested to visit this site for any update on this matter. This has the approval of the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, GU.'

Admission dates were scheduled for 28 and 29 July and classes were supposed to begin from 1 August 2017. However the decision is likely to affect the schedule.

Meanwhile the varsity will begin counselling for admission to BTech courses from 19 July. Counselling will be held for biotechnology, computer science and engineering, electronics and communication and engineering and information technology. The counselling will be held at Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology.
