Jet Flight Grounded Over Security Scare, Caller Said 'Happy Republic Day'

Cops received a call about a "gift box" on a Jet Airways flight from Delhi to Kathmandu.

New Delhi: A Jet Airways flight from Delhi to Kathmandu was grounded before take-off this afternoon after an anonymous caller claimed a "gift on a seat' and signed off saying "Happy Republic Day".

The call turned out to be a hoax.

The Delhi Police had received the call about a "gift box on seat 18", just before the flight was to take off at around 1.15 pm.

After the call, 104 passengers and seven crew members were asked to exit the plane for a thorough search.

The plane was taken to the isolation bay for a bomb check but nothing was found. The flight later took off in the evening.

There is heavy security across the country ahead of Republic Day celebrations tomorrow. Security experts believe there is a very "real threat" from ISIS.

French President Francois Hollande will be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade tomorrow.
