New Delhi: To facilitate expeditious decisions regarding care and protection of neglected children the Delhi government has constituted a new Child Welfare Committee at Lajpat Nagar, for the rehabilitation of fire victim boys and girls.

The Department of Women and Child Development has also constituted an anganwadi-cum-creche at the relief camp in Masoodpur after a major fire broke out in the jhuggi cluster on April 25. It is in collaboration with Non-Governmental Organisation Mahila Bal Uthan Avom Kala Manch.

Talking about the anganwadi-cum-creche in Masoodpur, Director (WCD), Saumya Gupta said that 50 children are attending it. They are being provided cooked food and snacks twice a day in addition to other services.

Mr Gupta also said that a cricket match was being organized at observation home for boys at Sewa Kutir Complex in Kingsway Camp on May 7 and 8.

The institution houses boys in the age group of 16 to 18 years who are in conflict with law. Two teams from NGO, Butterflies and Don Bosco, participated in this two day event along with a team from OHB II.

"The event was aimed at providing an opportunity for channelizing energies of young boys in a constructive manner," Mr Gupta added.
