England's Nicky Hunt wins compound archery gold
New Delhi: Nicky Hunt of England won the women's individual compound archery gold on Saturday, adding to her first gold in the compound team competition.

Hunt beat Doris Jones of Canada in the match for gold by firing a bull's-eye with her final arrow to win 146-145. Cassie McCall of Australia won the bronze match against compatriot Fiona Hyde.

The women's recurve team event on Friday was mired in controversy when the home crowd chanted loudly during England's final arrows in the battle for gold against India.

The English archers struggled to concentrate and lost 206-207, later saying the noise was against the spirit of the sport.

Mike Fennell, president of the Commonwealth Games Federation, on Saturday responded to the row by saying officials "should try and ensure quiet at the sensitive times of a sport."
