Woman burnt to death for failing to bear male child

Muzaffarnagar: A man along with his family members allegedly killed his wife for not being able to give birth to a male child in Muzaffarnagar's Mandawli village, police said.

The macabre incident took place yesterday when Puja, mother of three daughters, was set ablaze by her husband and in-laws.

Puja got married to Manoj Kumar in 2006.

She was being tortured by her husband and in-laws for over three-months for her inability to bear a male child, they said.

The victim's brother Kuldeep has lodged an FIR against Manoj, his father Sher Singh, mother Pushpa and brother Joni in this connection.

All the accused are absconding.
