Pune:
A Pune businessman was killed on the spot when a boulder rolled down the ghat and hit him near the Katraj tunnel. The suspects are a troop of monkeys.
Witnesses say they could not be sure, but it looked like a bunch of monkeys had pushed the boulder down from the upper reaches of the ghat.
The incident took place around 4:00 pm when Charansingh Darasingh Rajput was traveling on a two-wheeler with Yashwant Bhimrao Kotekar.
"As we passed the Katraj tunnel, my bike wobbled, and I realised something had fallen from above," said Kotekar. "I stopped 10 feet on and turned to see what had happened. I saw Rajput lying on the ground, bleeding profusely."
Kotekar said vendors who sell juice in the vicinity said monkeys had rolled the boulder down the slope. Rajput was declared brought-dead at Sassoon Hospital. A case of accidental death was registered at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
