The Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted bail to a man, accused of assaulting a girl, on the condition that he would clean the shoes of devotees of a local temple.
The single judge bench of Justice C R Dash granted bail to Suman Patra (19) who was arrested in July for assaulting and making indecent gesture to a girl at a wedding reception.
The high court directed Suman to clean devotees' shoes at the local Chandi Mandir every Sunday for two hours for 12 weeks.
It also directed the executive officer of the temple to facilitate the exercise with the help of the investigating officer.
Suman shall be released on bail after executing a bond of Rs 2,000 with two sureties of equal amounts before the trial court, the court said.
