The BJP is holding a series of meetings on its post election strategy, which began yesterday after exit poll predictions of a big victory for the party, under Narendra Modi, its prime ministerial candidate. Senior RSS leader Suresh Soni held discussions with BJP president Rajnath Singh in Delhi. Mr Singh also met Mr Modi's close aide Amit Shah.

The BJP's central parliamentary board, the party's top-decision making body, will meet in the Capital on Saturday, May 17, a day after the results are announced, to take stock of the Lok Sabha election results.
After that meeting, the BJP's newly-elected MPs will formally elect Narendra Modi as their leader. This was decided at a meeting Mr Modi had with party chief Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari in Gandhinagar on Wednesday night. (The BJP's New A-Team)

This afternoon, Uma Bharti met Mr Advani. Mr Bharti was expelled from the BJP after a public spat with Mr Advani in 2005. She returned to the party in 2011 and contested as the party's candidate from Jhansi in this election.
The NDTV exit poll shows Mr Modi leading the BJP to a majority. Even if the BJP-led alliance does get more than the 272 seats it needs to form the government, Mr Modi may still want more partners in order to have a stable coalition.
Many analysts have predicted he will strike a deal with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and her AIADMK - the NDTV exit poll gives her 32 seats, which could make her party the third largest in Parliament after the BJP and the Congress.
Mr Modi has indicated that he is open to new alliances in a post-election blog. "This is the right time to look ahead. It is a time to connect with each other," he wrote on Monday. "Let us place people over politics, hope over despair, healing over hurting, inclusion over exclusion and development over divisiveness," he added. Jayalalithaa is apparently keeping her options open, but today she expelled her party man, former AIADMK MP K Malaisamy, for suggesting yesterday that she would like to tie up with Mr Modi after the election results. (Read More...)
Another regional heavyweight - Naveen Patnaik, chief minister of Odisha - has not ruled out supporting a government led by Mr Modi. (Read More...) On Tuesday, a senior leader from Mr Patnaik's party, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) said it could offer "conditional support" to a BJP government.
