Yamaha Motor India Pvt Ltd has announced a price reduction for its flagship YZF-R15 as part of the brand's 70th Anniversary Special Price initiative. Effective from January 5, 2026, the revised pricing celebrates Yamaha's milestone year in India. The company has not specified how long these special rates will remain in effect, noting they may change at its discretion. By lowering the cost of the immensely popular R15, Yamaha marks its anniversary with a gesture that resonates strongly with Indian riders.
Under its 70th Anniversary initiative, Yamaha Motor India has announced a flat Rs 5,000 price cut across all R15 variants for the 2026 model year. With this revision, the R15 supersport range now begins at Rs 1.51 lakh (ex-showroom) for the R15 S, essentially the previous-gen R15 V3.0. The current R15 V4 is priced from Rs 1.66 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-spec R15 M starts at Rs 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom). The move makes Yamaha's popular R15 lineup more accessible, broadening its appeal among Indian riders.

Apart from the revised pricing, Yamaha's R15 supersport motorcycle remains unchanged under the 70th Anniversary Special Price scheme. The model continues to offer the same features, equipment, colours, and variants as before, with no updates beyond the Rs 5,000 reduction.

Talking about the specs, the Yamaha R15 draws power from the 155 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 18 hp of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. This unit is paired with a six-speed transmission. The bike also gets a quick-shifter and a traction control system.

Also, Yamaha is actively diversifying its product portfolio in India, having trademarked the R2 name for the market. Recent reports indicate that the Yamaha R2 is expected to launch during the 2026 festive season. According to Autocar India, the sportbike will be entirely designed and developed domestically, with production handled at Yamaha's Chennai facility. While the R2 is aimed at Indian buyers, the company also has ambitious plans to export the model globally, underscoring its broader strategy for international reach.
