Yamaha has officially stepped into India's electric scooter market with the launch of its first model, the EC-06. Priced at Rs 1,67,600 (ex-showroom), the scooter will initially be sold in select cities through Yamaha's premium Blue Square dealerships. The EC-06 is based on the same foundation as the River Indie This marks a major milestone for the company as it begins its journey into electric mobility in India. 

Yamaha EC-06: Battery And Range

The EC-06 is powered by an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) paired with a 4kWh fixed battery. Together, they deliver 6.7kW peak power, 26Nm torque, and a top speed of 79km/h. Charging is simple with a regular home plug, taking around eight hours for a full charge. On a single charge, the scooter offers a certified 169 km range, making it suitable for daily city use.

Yamaha EC-06: Design And Hardware

At launch, the EC-06 will be offered in a single Bluish White colour. Yamaha says the scooter has been designed in India but with a global outlook, targeting urban riders who want a stylish, practical, and eco-friendly commuting solution.

The scooter comes with 200 mm disc brakes at both ends and a Combi Brake System (CBS) for stable and precise braking. Adding to its premium feel are LED headlights and taillights, which improve visibility in low-light conditions while giving the scooter a sleek, contemporary look.

To suit different riding needs, Yamaha has equipped the EC-06 with three riding modes - Eco, Standard, and Power. These allow riders to choose between efficiency, balanced performance, or quicker acceleration. A handy Reverse Mode makes manoeuvring in tight spaces easier. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks with hydraulic dampers and a rear coil spring, ensuring comfort on uneven urban roads. It is also equipped with coloured LCD display that shows speed, battery status, riding modes, and connectivity features

The Yamaha EC-06 is tagged at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,67,600. In the Indian market, it rivals with the likes of the River Indie, Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro, Suzuki e-Access and more.
