JSW MG Motor India is set to launch the Majestor SUV in the Indian market on April 20. Ahead of its launch, the brand seems to be working on creating hype around the SUV. Before the official event, the automaker entered the Guinness Book of World Records after completing a train-towing challenge on an operational railway track in Jammu and Kashmir. The company said the pre-launch SUV pulled a 406.4-tonne train over a distance of more than 300 feet, securing a Guinness World Record for the heaviest train pulled by an SUV.
According to the report, the vehicle used for the attempt was a stock production unit, underlining that the feat was achieved without special modifications. The SUV comes equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, which puts out 215 hp of power and 278 Nm of peak torque with an 8-Speed automatic transmission. It also gets three locking differentials.

The Guinness World Records category for the heaviest train pulled has historically been associated with human strength. The existing record listed by Guinness was set in 1999 by Juraj Barbaric, who pulled a 20-car freight train weighing 1,000 tonnes over 4.5 metres in Slovakia. MG's effort now brings the title into the automotive space with an SUV-led attempt.

The Majestor is being readied as MG's premium D+ segment SUV in India and is expected to sit above the Gloster in the brand's lineup. The model was unveiled earlier this year and is positioned as a large, feature-rich SUV aimed at buyers looking for a more substantial alternative in the segment.
While the Guinness attempt has generated attention, the model's commercial launch details remain pending. The company has not yet announced final pricing, but the record effort adds momentum to the SUV's pre-launch campaign at a time when MG is seeking to strengthen its position in the premium SUV market.
The train-pull exercise follows a trend of automobile manufacturers using endurance and capability showcases to build interest before launch. In this case, MG has used an unusual and high-visibility challenge to draw attention to the Majestor's size, torque output, and towing credentials. Brands like Tata Motors have earlier done similar things for marketing their models like Curvv and Safari.
