The Ducati Panigale V4 is a formidable track machine suitable for regular racing. However, for those seeking even greater performance, there's the V4 S. If that still doesn't meet your needs, the house of Bologna has a war-ready track weapon called the Panigale V4 R. This is the machine that the brand calls the purest expression of its racing technology, and it has now been launched in the Indian market at Rs 84.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is now among the most expensive motorcycles on sale in the country.
Ducati Panigale V4 R: Engine
Sitting at the pinnacle of the Panigale lineup, the V4 R is the direct descendant of the iconic 996R. Bred for track, the machine houses a 998 cc Desmosedici Stradale R engine, which is derived from Ducati Corse's MotoGP and WorldSBK programs. When pushed, the unit produces 218 hp of power at 15,500 rpm and redlines at 16,500 rpm. With an optional racing exhaust, the output is pushed to 235 hp and can be bumped to 239 hp with Ducati Corse Performance Oil. In its race-ready form, it is capable of flying past 330 kmph.

To get the best out of the engine, it is made of lighter cast aluminium pistons with DLC coating, with a new crankshaft to increase inertia. This, paired with a better air intake system with shortened variable length intake, helps the Panigale V4 R sit amongst the fastest motorcycles in the world. So much so that it lingers very close to the MotoGP machines saddled by Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia.

Ducati Panigale V4 R: Hardware
The engine is housed in an aluminium alloy chassis with a hollow symmetrical swingarm to extract the best performance out of modern slicks. With this, the machine is claimed to offer improved rider feedback and overall control with better traction. It comes suspended on fully adjustable Ohlins with NPX 25-30 pressurised front fork and a TTX36 rear shock absorber with adjustable Ohlins steering damper. The bike holds the ground using Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V4 tyres wrapped on forged aluminium wheels. Controlling the performance is the Brembo Hypure front calipers clamping on 330 mm discs.

Ducati Panigale V4 R: Rider Aids
Supporting the rider is a Ducati Racing Gearbox (DRG), which has neutral below the first gear instead of being sandwiched between first and second. To further aid the rider, electronics like the Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO), a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Cornering ABS with combined braking and Race Brake Control, Ducati Traction Control, Slide Control, Wheelie Control, Power Launch, Quick Shift 2.0, and Engine Brake Control are present in the background. All of these can be accessed using a 6.9-inch TFT screen.
Ducati Panigale V4 R: Design
To help riders fully utilise the mechanical prowess, the Ducati Panigale V4 R gets an aerodynamic design inspired by MotoGP machines. Ducati has introduced Corner Sidepods, these sidepods create an aerodynamic load similar to ground effects when the bike is leaned over at high angles, thereby enhancing tire traction and cornering speeds.
Additionally, the motorcycle is equipped with larger biplane wings, which are claimed to provide 25 percent greater downforce compared to the earlier model at 270 km/h. Collectively, these aerodynamic enhancements greatly enhance stability, braking performance, and front-end accuracy during high-speed riding.
