Washington: The Navy Yard in southeast Washington remained on lockdown Thursday morning after reports of a shooting.

A federal law enforcement official said that investigators had found no indication of a shooting but that they were continuing to investigate.

Officials with the Washington police and fire departments said that no injuries had been reported and that no one had been transported to a hospital.

A Navy spokesman, Petty Officer 1st Class Pedro Rodriguez, reached by The Associated Press, confirmed the lockdown, but had no additional information.

The Navy Yard is the country's oldest naval installation. In September 2013, a computer contractor, Aaron Alexis, killed 12 people during a shooting at the Navy Yard before being killed by the police.
