Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Offers Rs 20 Lakh to Kin of Jawans Killed in Manipur Ambush

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday announced a financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh each to the kin of two jawans, hailing from the state, who were killed in an ambush in Manipur.

Mr Akhilesh termed the incident as an act of cowardice and strongly condemned it.

The chief minister announced the financial assistance for the kin of two jawans hailing from UP, who were killed in Manipur, an official spokesman said in Lucknow.

In a worst such attack in two decades, insurgents on June 4 had ambushed a military convoy in Manipur's Chandel district killing at least 18 army personnel and injuring 11 others.
