A local court will pronounce on Thursday the verdict on disgraced former Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) SPS Rathore's plea challenging the six-month sentence awarded to him by a CBI court in Ruchika Girhotra molestation case.

The CBI and relatives of budding tennis player Ruchika, who committed suicide three years after her molestation, had also filed petitions before the court seeking enhancement of Rathore's sentence.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh had on May 11 fixed tomorrow's date for delivering the judgement on all the three pleas after conclusion of arguments and counter-arguments in the case.

The court heard the arguments, which began on May three, on a day-to-day basis, till May 11 and the proceedings were held in-camera.

The tainted former Haryana police Chief had sought setting aside the trial court verdict against him while the family of Ruchika and the CBI had sought maximum punishment of two years for 68-year-old Rathore.

The former DGP was sentenced to six-month imprisonment on December 21 last year by CBI Judge JS Sidhu for molesting 14-year-old Ruchika at Panchkula in Haryana on August 12 in the year 1990.
