Opposition leaders meeting today to discuss upcoming budget session, other issues
New Delhi: BJP Parliamentary Party and NDA floor leaders in both Houses of Parliament will hold separate meetings today to discuss the strategy to take on the UPA government in the coming budget session on issues like price rise, corruption and Indian children in Norway.

The main opposition's parliamentary party leaders will meet today at 11 am under the leadership of their chief L K  Advani to discuss the issues the party plans to flag in the budget session.

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj has already stated that BJP and NDA will raise in Parliament the issue of NCTC formation without consulting the states, alleged repeated attacks on federal structure by the Centre, violation of election model code of conduct by union ministers in  recent polls, the issue of bringing back Indian children from Norway, alleged damming of Brahmaputra river by China among other subjects.

Ms Swaraj's Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley also emphasised on the "failure" of the UPA government to control prices and manage the economy.

"The worries of the government will increase as its popularity is falling as shown by the poll results. This government is not able to manage the economy. The investment scenario is bad. Government cannot control prices and everybody from labour to the industry leaders are concerned. There has been a fall in infrastructure development," Mr Jaitley told reporters.

He alleged the problem has been aggravated by "the growing arrogance" of the UPA government which has "angered" the people and state governments.

Mr Jaitley alleged state governments were miffed with the Centre as the latter was attacking the federal structure.

"In the case of NCTC, law and order is a state subject and the Constitution does not allow the Centre to encroach on the states' rights," he said.

The Rajya Sabha MP also charged the UPA government has failed to manage the economy.

"This has been the tradition of this government to announce a large number of economic steps even before the budget, so you cause the hikes before the budget and then try and bring a more tax-neutral budget. People are not going to be deceived by this," he said.

Mr Jaitley said all these issues will be raised by BJP and NDA in this Parliament session.

After the BJP meeting, a meeting of NDA constituents, namely, JD(U), SAD and Shiv Sena will be held this evening to discuss a joint strategy to take on the government
