Jigna Vora befriended Abu Salem during court hearings

Jigna Vora befriended Abu Salem during court hearings
Mumbai: Senior journalist Jigna Vora, the eleventh accused in the J Dey murder case, is now in the dock owing to her acquaintance with underworld don Abu Salem.

According to investigating officials, Vora had befriended the don during his court hearings. While investigating Vora's nexus with underworld don Chhota Rajan, the cops learnt that she had also developed a close rapport with underworld don Abu Salem as she used to attend the day-to-day trials against Salem, who has been prosecuted for various cases including the murder of Gulshan Kumar.

"In an attempt to get exclusive stories, she had gone out of her way to help Salem. Interrogations reveal that she had also bought him a few shirts, which he could wear in jail," said a senior officer from Mumbai Crime Branch.

But the cops said they would not investigate her friendship with Salem any further, as it did not pertain to Dey's murder case for which she has been booked.

Meanwhile, Vora has moved an application in the Special MCOCA Court in Mumbai seeking an in-camera trial in the case. The court will hear her application on December 20.

Vora has also requested that the media be restrained from writing on this case and that reporters should attribute quotes.
