Dhaka, Bangladesh: In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strict vegetarian diet, the state dinner hosted by his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina has a menu that is an all vegetarian affair.

For starters, there was a Gujarati speciality - Kaman Dhokla, accompanied with a yoghurt corriander chutney.

For main course there were the north Indian favourites like Paneer Butter Masala, Vegetable Shammi Kebabs and Dal Tadka.

The menu also served some Bengali specialities like 'Potol Dolma' (homemade ricotta-filled pointed gourd in a smooth coconut curry) and Khicidi (the Bengali version tempered with mustard seeds and ghee).

The Mishti (sweet) sampler for desert has Rasgullas, Mishti Doi and fruits.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also joined the dinner at Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina's request. Ms Banerjee has amended her itinerary to delay her return to Kolkata from Dhaka by a few more hours.
