The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already supplied relevant documents to the accused Talwar couple. Last week, the CBI handed over three CDs to the Talwars' lawyers and also brought around 6000 pages of documents to be given to the couple. In the last hearing, the lawyer for the Talwars had asked for some more documents related to the case and wanted at least a month to study these. But court rejected it, saying that there are directions from the Supreme Court saying the case should be expedited.
Nupur and Rajesh Talwar, both dentists, were made accused on February 9, 2011 for murder and destruction of evidence in the murders of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj by the special CBI court.
About a month back, Nupur Talwar surrendered before the court, after more than a year of avoiding the courts. Nupur's bail petition was rejected by the Ghaziabad court three weeks ago. She is currently in the Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad. Rajesh Talwar was arrested soon after the murders and was kept behind bars for 50 days before being set free in July 2008. He, along with his wife, was then made an accused in the case, three years later.
Aarushi Talwar was found dead with her throat slit at her Noida residence on the night intervening May 15 and 16, 2008, while Hemraj's body was recovered from the terrace of the house the next day.
