CBSE Results 2017 Date Uncertain, Will Be On Time Says HRD Minister

New Delhi: CBSE result, this year, is entangled with the mark moderation policy and the ongoing debates associated with it. Initially it seemed the Board has taken a milestone decision of removing the decade long practice of giving 'grace marks' to students. While the intention was to bring in 'clean marks', however it was not accepted well. Anguish and requests poured in once the HRD Ministry decided not to give grace marks implementing from this year! 'Rules cannot change after the game has begun,' with this obvious statement given by Delhi High Court, CBSE's no moderation policy is facing a situation of 'to be or not to be!' The Board hasn't given a tentative date for the result. However, the only statement being from the HRD Minister just now that it will be announced on time.

Anxiety can be clearly seen among students and their parents, who are relentlessly posting their concerns on various social media platforms.

'How will they be out on time when it has already been delayed ?', says a Facebook post (handle: Syamantak Sen)

'Sir plz at least furnish a date for declaration of the cbse class 12 results to lessen our anxiety,' tweets a student (handle: zeegee98)

Though Board hasn’t made any announcement regarding the 10th, 12th result taking previous years trend into consideration, CBSE results were expected to be released on 24 May 2017.

As per a recent news, it is likely that the Board may approach Supreme Court, with a special leave petition (SLP), challenging the Delhi High Court order on marks moderation policy. If it happens, results are to delay further.

CBSE 12th, 10th Results 2017 Date Uncertain; Will Be Declared On Time, Assures HRD Minister

Seema Kasumra, Head Mistress Ryan International School, Ghaziabad told NDTV that scrapping of moderation policy has caused a bit of stress in the minds of children. Usually this when students start applying for DU admission and other Universities. She further added that the rules and schemes were declared once students were ready for giving exam. 'Otherwise it will focus more on acquisition of knowledge and education instead of hunting for marks', she added later.

Though all school boards were asked to give up the moderation policy, not all have implemented it yet. The CBSE along with 32 other boards had decided to do away with the marks moderation policy last month. However some States like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, have decided not to withdraw the moderation policy this year.

No moderation policy will decrease the scores 'drastically' which will in turn make it extremely tough to compete for a seat in top notch colleges of the country. It will also affect those who have plans to study abroad. State Boards will rule the admission process by grabbing maximum seats.

'CBSE Class 12 results delayed’ are affecting other results as well. In an instance, a news report in The Hindu has stated that, 'Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has decided to postpone the announcement of the Common Entrance Test (CET) results on account of delay in the release of Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) exam results across the country.' This will affect 1.8 lakh candidates who had appeared for the exam.

With the overall career at stake, that too for a reason 'unprepared for', students should wait and hope for the best.
