Slight Relief From Cold for Delhi, Fog Disrupts Train, Air Traffic

A chilly morning and fog gave way to a clear sky today and people of Delhi witnessed a slight relief from biting cold.

New Delhi: A chilly morning and fog gave way to a clear sky today and people of Delhi witnessed a slight relief from biting cold even as 98 trains and 23 flights in the national capital were delayed due to the hazy weather.

The minimum temperature was 4.8 degrees Celsius, two notches higher than the yesterday's minimum of 2.6 degrees which was lowest of the season so far.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 21.2 degrees, a notch above the season's average. The minimum was three degrees below the normal for this time of the year.

According to a Northern Railway official, ten trains including Mahabodhi Express, Bhramaputra Express and Swatantra Express were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

"Apart from that, departure timing of 41 trains including Rajdhani Express going to Bhubaneswar, Sealdah, Dibrugarh, Ranchi were rescheduled," the official added.

The visibility according to Meteorological departments officials was as low as 50 meters at 5.30 am which increased to 100 meters at 8.30 am.

However, it improved as the day progressed and was recorded 800 meters at 11.30 am and 1000 meters at 5 pm.

The humidity level was recorded as high as 100 per cent and on the lower side it was 32 per cent.

Meteorological department has predicted overcast conditions for tomorrow, with possibility of moderate to dense fog in the morning.

"It is going to a clear sky which will become partly cloudy morning onwards. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 20 and 4 degrees Celsius.
