It was another hot and sunny day in the capital on Thursday with the maximum temperature settling at 40.4 degrees Celsius - average for this time of the year. The Met Office has forecast similar weather on Friday.
"Similar weather is expected on Friday. The sky will be clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 42 and 27 degrees Celsius," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
Thursday's minimum temperature was a notch above average at 27.8 degrees Celsius. The maximum humidity was 55 per cent.
The maximum temperature on Wednesday was two notches above average at 42.8 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled a notch above average at 27.8 degrees Celsius.
The city has been witnessing soaring temperatures for the past two weeks with the maximum settling two-to-five notches above the season's average
