Husband, wife commit suicide after poisoning kids

Jaipur: A couple allegedly committed suicide after killing their two daughters by giving them poison in Dausa district following a prolonged land dispute, police said.

According to police, the incident took place during wee hours on Thursday in Nangal Rawatan village. The couple -- Jansiram Meena, 40, and Rameshi Devi, 35, -- gave poison to their daughters Komal, 6, and Pooja, 3. Later, they hanged themselves.

After the incident, brother of Jansiram spotted the bodies of the two children and the couple and informed the police.

"A police team along with the forensic experts rushed to the spot and found the couples hanging from a ceiling fan while the two daughters were in unconscious state. A team of doctors examining the couple and the daughters declared them dead," police said.

"The deceased left a suicide note which mentions that he [Jansiram] was fed up with his family members especially his brother on their prolonged land dispute. He has also mentioned that under the tense circumstances that have prevailed in the family he can't live," superintendent of police (Dausa) Devendra Singh, said.

"The deceased has also held his brother responsible for the suicide. Prima facie it appears to be a clear case of dispute in the family as the reason of this suicide," he added.
Asked if the police have arrested or detained any of the brothers, they said that the family was already in shock after the incident.

"We will definitely crosscheck and verify facts related to the matter in a day or two to ascertain if the allegations made by the deceased were true."

It is noteworthy that in a similar incident a couple had committed suicide after killing their seven children near a village in Jaipur district recently.
