It was a scene to behold at the Godrej junction in  Mumbai as a group of cops stood huddled at the intersection. They were arguing over in whose jurisdiction an accident location fell.

Two Navy personnel Sanjeev Dwivedi and Sailender Pandey , crashed their bike into a speeding Honda City at around 1 am at the Godrej Junction near Mantralaya. The car reportedly dragged the bike for some distance, before fleeing the scene.

Soon after the accident, the police arrived at the scene and sent the two injured to the INS Asvini Hospital in Colaba. However, by this time, police officers from the Marine Drive, Colaba and Cuffe Parade stations had also arrived on the location of the accident.

There was apparent confusion about under whose jurisdiction the location fell, and the cops stood gathered at the middle of the intersection, and started arguing about the matter. This went on for nearly two hours.

The cops came to a consensus at around 3 am and the case was finally registered with the Marine Drive police station.

A constable who was present at the scene said, "It is necessary to determine the jurisdiction because this is a matter of government officials meeting with an accident. The paperwork needs to be done by the correct police station, and hence officers from all the three police stations had come here to decide."
