Bangalore man kills business partner, burns body

Bangalore: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has filed a chargesheet against a businessman who kidnapped and strangled a chief engineer from the minor irrigation department, and burnt his body, after the latter asked him to allow his wife to have sex with him.

C Mohan (50), was abducted from his house at Basaveshwaranagar on February 27, 2010, following which his wife had filed a missing complaint at Mahalaxmi Layout police station.

The police found a partially burnt body on the same day in Bandigowdana Palya of Huliyuru
Durga police station limits. Valuables, cash and mobile phone of the victim were missing.

Since it was a sensitive case, the home department transferred the case to the CID. In their investigations, the CID found that Mohan was last seen with his close friend R Hemanth Kumar (33), with whom he used to have business deals. After keeping a close watch on him, the police picked up Kumar for questioning.

It turned out that Kumar was earlier a driver with Mohan's brother-in-law, and later became business partners with Mohan. With Mohan's money, Kumar floated a marketing company.

A detailed grilling led Kumar to confess that he had killed Mohan because Mohan had expressed the desire to have sex with Kumar's wife. An enraged Kumar hatched a plan to kill Kumar.

He invited Mohan over for drinks. Later, on their way back, he stabbed Mohan to death, took the body to the outskirts of the city, and burnt it. He even took his valuables and mobile phone to make it look like murder for gain.

Armed with his confessional statement the CID has filed a chargesheet against him on murder and also for destroying evidence. Initial investigations have revealed that Kumar had killed Mohan because he had been unable to repay the money lent to him.

"Initial investigations have revealed that Kumar owed some money to Mohan and unable to repay, he decided to eliminate him," said a police official.
