Bangalore:
The asbestos roof of a day care centre in Cottonpet came crashing down yesterday around 12.30 pm, injuring 11 children aged between 3 and 5 years. Selve, a day care teacher, was teaching around 16 children in the centre when the incident occurred. The sheets fell on her and 11 children as the wall of an adjacent under-construction building collapsed.
One of the children injured in the incident has been admitted in NIMHANS for observation, while five others have been admitted to Vani Vilas hospital and the remaining were treated for minor injuries and have been sent home.
Ashok, a parent of one of the injured, filed a complaint following the incident. The police have arrested Ramu, owner of the adjacent building on charges of negligence. Nurulla Shariff, PI of Cottonpet police station, said, "The owner of the under construction building has been booked on negligence charges."
