Ranchi: The BJP today claimed that results of Lok Sabha elections have triggered a "revolutionary change" infusing national perspective into the assembly elections earlier contested on local issues.

"People used to vote on (the basis of) local issues, which influenced previous assembly elections. But now a revolutionary change has taken place in the country after the Lok Sabha elections," BJP's national spokesman GVL Narasimha Rao said in Ranchi.

He attributed lack of national trends as the reason behind local issues dominating assembly elections and cited examples of voting behaviour from state to state that differed. He showed how results in Bihar and Jharkhand had been different in the previous two elections.

"But now the people want to connect with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and his wave has gained momentum even after the LS polls," Mr Rao said and cited results of Haryana and Maharashtra as examples of PM Modi's increasing popularity.

Alleging that the Hemant Soren government had been the 'worst' regime in Jharkhand, Mr Rao said, "It's not a coalition government but a compromise government with transfer-posting becoming an industry and corruption being at its peak."

To a query that all previous governments too faced such allegations, Mr Rao denied it and said the previous BJP-led governments had been 'good' and the party's present goal was to put the development process on the fast track.
