Case Against Ness Wadia: Three Witnesses Confirm Preity Zinta's Version, One Not Sure

Mumbai: Mumbai Police have almost finished recording the statements of those witnesses who were sitting next to actor Preity Zinta -- who has accused her former boyfriend Ness Wadia of threatening her at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 30 - at the time of the alleged

Ms Zinta, 39, has accused Mr. Ness Wadia, 44, a former boyfriend, of abusing and threatening her during the match played by the Indian Premier League cricket team they co-own, the Punjab Kings XI.

According to sources, three witnesses have confirmed the sequence of events as narrated by Ms Zinta in her statement to the police, which she had recorded on June 24 at the Wankhede Stadium, the site of the alleged incident. But one of the witnesses, an official of the Kings XI Punjab team, reportedly told the police that he did not see what exactly transpired. He has told the police that he witnessed an argument over the seats but did not see Mr Wadia misbehave, sources added. Summons has now been sent to two more witnesses and the police hope to record their statements on Wednesday.

Top sources in the Mumbai Police have told NDTV that any decision on action against Mr Wadia will be taken only after the police finish recording the statements of all the witnesses named by Ms. Zinta. (Preity Zinta Case: Police Ask Indian Cricket Board for Spectators' List)

The police also recorded the statements of witnesses from Mr Wadia's side. According to sources, the Wadia group has prepared a list of 30 witnesses to defend him.

On Monday, Ms Zinta had met Mumbai Police Commissioner Mr Rakesh Maria to seek permission to travel abroad as the police had asked her to return to the country after she had filed a complaint against Mr Wadia.

On June 22, she flew to Mumbai from the United States and spent two hours at the city's Wankhede Stadium, recounting how she was allegedly harassed at the venue on May 30 by Mr Wadia.
