British Parliament honours Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket after playing his last test match in Mumbai last week.

London: A motion was today laid in Britain's House of Commons congratulating cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar on his magnificent career.

The early day motion, moved by Indian-origin MP Keith Vaz, stated that Mr Tendulkar has served as an inspiration for millions around the world and recognised his selfless dedication to the sport.

Mr Vaz said: "This motion is a fitting tribute to such an exceptional batsman. Tendulkar is adored almost as much in the UK as he is India so it is only right that Parliament pays tribute to him."

Mr Tendulkar brought curtains down on his 24-year-long illustrious career on November 16 bidding a tearful adieu to international cricket.
