Arvind Kejriwal has caught people's imagination, says Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit admits that debutant Arvind Kejriwal has caught the people's imagination, but says she does not expect that to translate into votes for his Aam Aadmi Party in the assembly elections.

In an exclusive interview to NDTV, she also said that Mr Kejriwal, an activist-turned-politician, lacks vision and "takes two steps back for every step forward." The 75-year-old Chief Minister is clear that Delhi will again see a traditional BJP-Congress election battle, with Mr Kejriwal's party placing third.

Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party or AAP, launched last year, is contesting its first ever elections in Delhi this year. "We don't know what impact AAP will have, it is a new entity. He (Kejriwal) has caught the imagination of the people to a certain extent," she said.

Mrs Dikshit, who hopes to win a fourth straight stint in government for her party, the Congress, in the December 5 Assembly elections this year, said she is both "confident and nervous," but admitted there is no knowing what is in the voter's mind.

"As a voter, one may think may be another party can do better. That question mark in the voters' minds has to be removed," she said.

What she is certain of, she says, is that no anti-incumbency factor at the Centre will rub off on Delhi.
