Earthquake of 5.9 Magnitude Strikes off Japan: US Agency

An earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitude struck off Japan's northeast coast today. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The quake was 80 km (50 miles) deep and centred 132 km (82 miles) north northeast of Hachinohe, Honshu, the US Geological Survey said.
