Chinese pandas extend their US stay

Washinton DC: Two beloved giant pandas have been the stars of Washington, DC's National Zoo for a decade. However their status is immigrant as they have been on loan from China.

Just when kids were bidding goodbye to their oriental friends, comes the happy news that the stay for these pandas has been extended.

Chinese conservation officials signed a deal with the National Zoo, extending the stay of 12-year-old Mei Xiang and 13-year-old Tian Tian for five more years.

The 2.75 million US dollar deal was signed as Chinese President Hu Jintao continued his visit to Washington, and is being hailed as an example of Sino-US cooperation.
