West Bengal Polls: Mamata Vs Adhikari Sets Stage For Bhabanipur Showdown

It will the mother of all battles in the Bhabanipur assembly constituency of Kolkata - the home turf of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee - when West Bengal votes in the assembly polls next month. The Bharatiya Janata Party has upped the ante here by fielding Suvendu Adhikari - the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly. He had defeated the chief minister in Nandigram in 2021. Bhabanipur, however, is a different ball game. Banerjee has held the seat since 2011, winning it three times, including twice in by-elections. Her personal residence lies in this constituency. On the ground, voter sentiment appears divided, and with the Chief Minister deciding to contest from here again, many expect a close fight.
