Durga Puja | Kolkata Transgender Community Celebrates Durga Puja With Ardhanarishvara Idol
Kolkata’s transgender community is celebrating Durga Puja with an Ardhanarishvara-inspired idol, depicting Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati as one. Organised by Gokhale Road Bandhan, a Kolkata-based NGO and community initiative, the puja is in its ninth year and promotes social inclusion, challenges prejudice and highlights discrimination and violence faced by women and transgender people.
