Trump Pushes Saudi Arabia, Pakistan To Normalise Ties With Israel, Join Abraham Accords

US President Donald Trump has reignited debate over the Abraham Accords after urging several Arab and Muslim-majority nations to join the US-brokered framework normalising ties with Israel. In a series of remarks and social media posts, Trump said discussions with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain convinced him that more countries should formally recognise Israel under an expanded Abraham Accords framework. Originally brokered during Trump’s first term in 2020, the accords marked a major diplomatic breakthrough by normalising ties between Israel and countries including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. But despite growing regional engagement with Israel, many Muslim-majority nations continue to resist joining the accords, arguing that normalisation without a Palestinian state undermines the Palestinian cause, especially amid the ongoing Gaza conflict.
