TVK Latest News | 'Can't Support Horse Trading': Congress MP To TVK

A fresh political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu after Congress MP Jyothimani criticised the ruling TVK over allegations of "horse trading" following the resignation of three rebel AIADMK MLAs who later joined the ruling party. The remarks come despite the Congress being an alliance partner of the TVK government. Jyothimani said the Congress "cannot support all means" adopted by the ruling party and argued that any move weakening democratic principles goes against the ideals of Rahul Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. The controversy intensified after the rebel MLAs resigned and were immediately inducted into TVK, prompting opposition parties to allege political engineering and defections aimed at strengthening the ruling party's numbers after the recent trust vote. TVK, however, has denied allegations of horse trading, maintaining that political defections are not new to Tamil Nadu politics and have happened across parties in the past.
