"Trump Himself Called For A Halt On These Bombings": Emmanuel Macron On Iran War

French President Emmanuel Macron denounced what he described as the “reckless” escalation in the Middle East and called for a truce as the Islamic holy month of Ramadan draws to an end. “The fighting should stop for a few days to try to give negotiations another chance,” Macron said in Brussels ahead of a meeting of European Union leaders. France is pushing for a moratorium on any attacks against civilian infrastructures and civilian people, he said. Macron spoke as European Union leaders are meeting in Brussels for talks on the Iran war and energy prices. Many of those leaders have deflected entreaties by U.S. President Donald Trump to send military assets to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for the global flow of oil, gas and fertilizer.
