Somnath Swabhiman Parv: PM Modi Hails Somnath's 1,000-Year Legacy, 'Symbol of India’s Resilience'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has marked the beginning of Somnath Swabhiman Parv, commemorating 1,000 years since the first recorded attack on the Somnath Temple. In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the occasion is not just about a temple, but about India’s enduring spirit of resistance, reconstruction and cultural continuity. Sharing visuals from his earlier visits to Somnath, PM Modi highlighted how the temple was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt, emerging as a lasting symbol of India’s civilisational resilience. He urged citizens to share their own memories and photographs of Somnath as the year-long observance begins. The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Somnath on January 10 as part of a three-day Gujarat tour, during which he will attend trust meetings and key events, including celebrations, a drone show and a grand roadshow. As Somnath Swabhiman Parv unfolds over the year, the focus remains on remembering the temple’s history while reaffirming India’s cultural and spiritual legacy.
