Tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees gathered at camps in Bangladesh to mark the ninth anniversary of their mass exodus from Myanmar and demand a safe return to their homeland. At a rally in Kutupalong, Cox’s Bazar, refugees called on the international community, Bangladesh government and other stakeholders to ensure security in Myanmar's Rakhine state. The anniversary comes nine years after a military crackdown in August 2017 forced more than 700,000 Rohingya to flee across the border into Bangladesh.
