Police Case Against Madhya Pradesh Minister Over Remarks On Colonel Sofiya Qureshi

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has independently taken notice of a controversial statement by Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah targeting Colonel Sophia Qureshi. The court ordered the Director General of Police (DGP) to file a first information report (FIR) against Mr Shah. During a public gathering, Mr Shah made remarks that seemed to equate Colonel Qureshi's military role with a communal and gendered insult. After a public backlash, Mr Shah stated, "If my words have offended society or religion, I am prepared to apologise multiple times." Colonel Qureshi was part of the tri-services team, alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, briefing the media on Operation Sindoor.
