West Bengal SIR | TMC Moves Supreme Court Against SIR in Bengal, Alleges 'Arbitrary' Exercise

The Trinamool Congress has moved the Supreme Court of India against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound West Bengal, a day after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee termed the exercise “inhumane” and vowed legal action. In its petition against the Election Commission of India, the TMC has alleged arbitrary and discriminatory implementation of SIR, claiming that micro-observers have been deployed only in West Bengal, elderly voters are being harassed, and instructions are allegedly being circulated via WhatsApp by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office without formal communication.
