Mumbai witnessed intense monsoon showers on Wednesday morning, causing widespread disruption across the city and its suburbs as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall. The weather agency has warned of thunderstorms and intense rain spells in Mumbai and Thane, while neighbouring Palghar is also expected to receive heavy rainfall. The city has already seen multiple incidents of tree falls, waterlogging and traffic disruption following the intensification of the southwest monsoon. An uprooted tree near DN Nagar Metro Station crashed onto a transit bus and nearby structures, while another major tree fall blocked a key stretch of SV Road in Andheri.
