Odisha is bracing for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours as a depression over coastal West Bengal and the adjoining Bay of Bengal moves closer to the region. The IMD has issued a red alert for Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar, while an orange alert is in place for several other districts. Rainfall is expected to continue across the state through August 23, with fishermen advised against venturing into the sea along the Odisha coast.
