Orissa doctors call off strike

Doctors in government hospitals of Orissa have called off their indefinite strike for now after a worried chief minister made a number of commitments to the doctors' union. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik, has promised to introduce a special bill ensuring security of doctors in the next assembly session. Patnaik clarified that the move to dismiss three doctors who chopped off palms of the victims of the Kalinga Nagar police firing during post-mortem is not final.
