Vijay's Gold Ring Scheme: 1.28 Lakh Rings For Babies Born In Government Hospitals
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is set to launch the 'Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram' scheme in Madurai, offering eligible newborns a one-gram, 22-carat gold ring. The first phase includes 1.28 lakh rings for babies born in government hospitals from June 22. The government says the initiative aims to encourage institutional deliveries, while DMK Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has criticised Vijay over his government's promises, law and order and the Karur stampede.
