Explained: What Is Hindi Diwas And Why Is It Celebrated?

Every year on 14th September, India observes Hindi Diwas to commemorate the adoption of Hindi language, as one of the official languages of the Union government. The decision to promote Hindi as a unifying language in a linguistically diverse nation was taken by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. Since then, Hindi Diwas has honoured the language's contribution to national unity, cultural identity, administration, and education.
