The Mekedatu dam project has once again sparked a political row, with Tamil Nadu Minister CTR Nirmal Kumar criticising Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar amid the ongoing Cauvery water dispute. The minister claimed the DMK shares a close relationship with Shivakumar and alleged that "whatever the DMK is thinking, DK Shivakumar is speaking" on the issue. Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar convened an all-party meeting, stressing that Karnataka's interests and farmers' welfare are above politics, calling for unity across party lines while reiterating that drinking water remains the state's top priority.
