Delhi Hotel Fire | 'Around 15 People Jumped Out': Locals Narrate Horrors After Deadly Fire

Speaking about the incident and how he tried to rescue people, a local said, "My paying guest came to me and told me about the fire. when I stepped out into this lane, I saw people from across the way frantically banging on the windows; they were using whatever objects they had in their hands to strike the glass, but it just wouldn't break... Eventually, we hurled bricks and stones at the windows to shatter the glass. Once the windows were broken, one man jumped from the first floor and he sustained an injury to his leg. After that, we quickly laid out as many mattresses as we could find. Some people jumped from the third floor, others from the fourth. They landed on the mattresses and were completely safe... There were around 15 people who jumped out. Around 30 people managed to make their way out on their own..."
